Andrew Yi is an Investment Associate on the Builders Initiative Investments Team. He identifies, analyzes, and invests in new energy and ocean opportunities in addition to supporting Builder Initiative’s portfolio companies and fund managers.

Previously, Andrew was an early stage investor at Third Sphere predominantly focused on climate hardware. Prior to Third Sphere, Andrew was a strategist at Google X supporting the early stage climate portfolio and a Green Hydrogen project. Beforehand, Andrew was a consultant at McKinsey focused on sustainable investments to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors and operational excellence in manufacturing clients. Originally, Andrew was a hardware engineer who worked on Tesla’s Model 3 battery module and e-motors and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Perseverance Rover’s drill.

Andrew earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Andrew enjoys spending his free time outdoors while skiing, hiking, and playing lacrosse."
